Innovative Business, Family Style
Founded in 1994, Polyco entered the asphalt market as a small, family-owned business with big goals. What does a typical day look like for you at Polyco?
I oversee our two facilities in Texas and make sure that our operations are going well, both from a safety and quality standpoint, and that we are meeting our customer delivery time. My team is amazing. They cover safety, quality, scheduling, production and maintenance. We work as a team to meet our customers’ needs.
What did you do before joining Polyco?
After graduating from the University of Texas, I worked with 3M as a project engineer. That’s where I developed an interest in manufacturing. I loved being in the plants, seeing how things were made and then seeing the opportunities to either make the processes more efficient or improve the product quality or plant safety. I then explored various types of engineering and moved into a leadership role. I completed their Lean Six Sigma Black Belt program, which gave me foundational skills that I still use today.
What do you like most about working at Polyco?
Our company culture and a commitment to doing what is right. We are 100% committed to safety and quality in everything we do. Everybody is committed to being respectful and moving the needle forward.
What does the future look like for Polyco?
The future is definitely bright. I am super excited about growth opportunities and I think we can do it fairly quickly. We’re also going to be green and have a culture that makes people say, “I really want to work for that company.”
What do you love to do outside of work?
My family is at the center of my world — my husband and my two kids. Anytime we can do things together, that is what I love. My daughter’s into swimming, so I love to go and watch her compete. My son is a little gamer, so I enjoy playing video games with him. My husband and I both golf, so that is something we’ve always enjoyed together as well.
