PAVING ROADS THAT ARE TEXAS TOUGH

According to TxDOT, there are more than 79,000 miles of roadway in Texas — more than any other state! With all that pavement, the Lone Star State deserves a sustainable asphalt solution that extends the life of those roads. Since 2014, SigmaBond has helped improve the longevity of Texas pavements.

SigmaBond is an innovative asphalt modifier that enables hot mix contractors to use more upcycled materials while extending the life of pavements. Utilizing Polyco’s patented Rapid Digestion Process™ (RDP), end-of-life tires are liquified and blended to create customized asphalt formulations. With SigmaBond, we’re leveraging the performance properties inherent in those tires to construct longer-lasting roads — building a sustainable infrastructure today to ensure a brighter future tomorrow.

For Contractors

SigmaBond is easy to work with. Not only is it the only PG-TR that can be compacted with a pneumatic roller, it's compatible with standard paving equipment. Additionally, SigmaBond eliminates binder variability and manages viscosity when RAP is added to the mix.

For Terminal Operators

SigmaBond is versatile. It can be blended with any asphalt stream and offers indefinite storage stability. Additionally, SigmaBond reduces tank maintenance by eliminating tire rubber settlement.

For TxDOT

SigmaBond is made for Texas roads. It is the only tire rubber asphalt that can improve low-temperature performance and meets all binder specifications at any tire rubber concentration. Additionally, SigmaBond enhances safety and performance, resulting in pavements that stay darker, longer.

Performance You Can Hang Your Hat On

SigmaBond has been rigorously tested to ensure long-term performance. Time and time again, SigmaBond has been proven to significantly enhance fatigue resistance and thermal stability.

  • On NCAT’s test track, PG76-28SR binder mixed with SigmaBond at 20%+ TR and 20% RAP resulted in no cracking after ~2 million ESALs and <5mm of rutting.
  • Binder tests performed at Polyco’s R&D facility showed resistance to thermal cracking, reduced block or fatigue cracking and a drastic improvement in low temperature performance.
  • On the road near Dallas, SigmaBond lasted well beyond the city’s expected timeline, and outperformed the sections paved without SigmaBond.

Sustainable Paving in Fort Worth: Roads Built to Last

In partnership with Texas Materials, we paved downtown Fort Worth streets with MAC Mix asphalt, enhanced by our SigmaBond binder. With up to 18% PG-TR, this sustainable mix diverted over 18,000 tires from landfills, used 11% recycled asphalt shingles, and delivered a durable, smooth finish. SigmaBond’s seamless integration boosted efficiency and longevity, cutting maintenance costs and benefitting both the environment and taxpayers.

Paving Solutions near Dallas that Outlast Expectations

The city of Mansfield chose SigmaBond-enhanced asphalt for an interim road repair, and the pavement lasted well beyond the expected timeline. Impressed, the city used the same SigmaBond binder in a June 2021 four-lane project, with stunning results: SigmaBond sections remained darker, more durable, and crack-resistant compared to standard asphalt — even years later! Not only does this enhance road stability and safety, but it also proves that SigmaBond delivers performance you can see.

Closing the Loop on Sustainable Paving with a Sustainable Partnership

In a full-circle moment, Texas-based All American Tire Recyclers (Polyco’s crumb rubber supplier) repaved their high-traffic lot with a mix featuring our SigmaBond rubberized binder. The project used 2,200 tons of asphalt containing 18% tire rubber—recycling over 2,000 tires into durable, crack-resistant pavement. Thanks to SigmaBond’s easy application, the job was completed in one day, minimizing disruption for All American’s 24/7 operations. This collaboration highlights how SigmaBond supports sustainable, high-performance paving, creating a true cradle-to-gate solution for recycled tire materials.

SigmaBond's the Best in Texas

For the paving industry, SigmaBond translates into sustainability, safety and cost savings. Pavements are better protected and stay darker and smoother longer — improving driving conditions for all. Watch this video to learn how SigmaBond enables the use of more upcycled materials in the paving lifecycle to build a sustainable infrastructure for the long term.

This Ain’t Our First Rodeo

  • The excellent performance of the first 3-years of the TRMSS in terms of no reflective cracking, no scuffing, no raveling, and no bleeding indicates that the TRMSS would very easily offer another 4-5 years of excellent performance.

  • We need to raise the bar as an industry— SigmaBond ensures that asphalt endures and performs.
